Overview

Take home underwater photos that better reflect what you actually experienced beneath the surface.

The PADI Digital Underwater Photography Specialty Course in Taganga teaches practical techniques for creating better underwater images while maintaining good buoyancy and respecting marine life.

Across two photography-focused dives, you’ll work on camera handling, composition, light, color, positioning and underwater shooting techniques while receiving direct feedback from your instructor.

Course Itinerary

Duration: 1 day – includes a photography workshop and 2 underwater photography training dives.

Photography Workshop

Before diving, learn about:

Underwater camera preparation
Basic camera settings
Composition
Natural and artificial light
Color loss underwater
Reducing backscatter
Approaching marine life responsibly
Combining photography with good buoyancy

Two Photography Dives

Put the techniques into practice underwater and experiment with:

Shooting angles
Subject positioning
Light and color
Getting closer without disturbing marine life
Keeping the camera steady
Maintaining buoyancy while photographing

Afterwards, review your results and identify ways to improve.

Requirements

PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or qualifying equivalent
Minimum age: 10 years
Medically fit for diving
Good buoyancy control strongly recommended

Daily Scuba Diving Insurance – 15,000 COP/day: Available for divers without active specialized dive insurance. Coverage is subject to policy terms.

15L / 100 cu ft Large Tank Upgrade – 10,000 COP/tank: Additional gas capacity for higher-air-consumption divers. Subject to availability.

Flying & Altitude After Diving

After multiple dives, wait at least 18 hours after your final dive before flying or traveling to significant altitude.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Online Deposit: Reserve your course with an online deposit and pay the remaining balance at check-in.

PADI Digital Materials: Once assigned to your personal PADI account, their cost is non-refundable.

Standard Cancellations: Cancellations at least 48 hours before your course may receive a refund of the remaining refundable deposit portion.

Late Cancellations / No-Shows: Cancellations within 48 hours, no-shows, late arrivals preventing participation and voluntarily ending the course are non-refundable.

Ocean Lovers Cancellation: If diving is cancelled because of unsafe conditions or an official port closure, we’ll reschedule whenever possible. If completion becomes impossible, refundable payments will be returned excluding assigned PADI materials.

Health & Fitness to Dive: Last-minute cancellations are normally non-refundable, but if illness prevents diving, contact us immediately and we’ll help find a rescheduling solution whenever possible.

Photography courses continue during Tayrona National Park closures at suitable dive sites around Taganga, Santa Marta and outside the official park boundaries.
