Become a more aware, capable and confident diver with the PADI Rescue Diver Course in Taganga, Colombia.
Rescue Diver is one of the most challenging and rewarding recreational PADI courses. It changes the way you dive by teaching you to look beyond yourself, recognize problems before they escalate and respond effectively when another diver needs help.
You’ll learn how to manage stress, assist tired or panicked divers, search for missing divers, respond to unresponsive divers and handle realistic emergency scenarios.
Choose between an intensive 2-day program or a 3-day option with additional confined-water rescue training for more hands-on practice and simulations.
Course Itinerary
Duration: 2 or 3 days – includes 4 open-water training dives over 2 days. The 3-day option adds confined-water training for additional hands-on rescue practice and simulations.
Before Arrival – PADI eLearning
After booking, you’ll receive your personal PADI Rescue Diver eLearning.
Complete as much theory as possible before arriving so your time in Taganga can focus on practical rescue training and realistic scenarios.
Rescue Diver – 4 Open-Water Training Dives
Across two days of open-water training, you’ll develop and practice skills including:
- Recognizing diver stress
- Preventing problems before they escalate
- Assisting tired divers
- Responding to panicked divers

- Surfacing an unresponsive diver
- In-water rescue breathing

Training progresses from individual rescue techniques to more complete scenarios where you must recognize the problem, decide how to respond and manage the situation.
Optional 3-Day Program – Additional Confined-Water Training
Choose the 3-day option if you want additional time to practice rescue techniques in a controlled environment before applying them in open water.
The extra confined-water session gives you more opportunity to:
- Repeat rescue techniques
- Practice different response scenarios
- Improve towing and positioning
- Work on tired and panicked-diver approaches
- Refine unresponsive-diver procedures
- Practice rescue breathing and surface techniques
- Receive additional individual instructor feedback
This option is especially useful for divers who prefer more hands-on practice or are considering future PADI Divemaster or professional-level training.
Requirements
- PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or qualifying equivalent
- Current CPR and First Aid certification completed within the previous 24 months
- Minimum age: 12 years
- Medically fit for scuba diving
- Completed required diver medical screening
If you don’t yet have current CPR and First Aid training, you can complete the Emergency First Response course together with Rescue Diver through our Rescue Diver + EFR Combo.

Add-Ons & Extras
Flying & Altitude After Diving
After multiple dives, wait at least 18 hours after your final dive before flying or traveling to significant altitude.
This also applies to travel by land to higher-altitude destinations such as Minca and the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
Online Deposit: Reserve your course with an online deposit and pay the remaining balance at check-in.
PADI eLearning & Digital Materials: Part of your deposit is used to register you with PADI and assign your personal digital course materials. Once your PADI eLearning has been assigned, the cost of these materials is non-refundable, as they remain registered to your personal PADI account.
Standard Cancellations: For cancellations made at least 48 hours before the scheduled course start, any refundable portion of the deposit may be refunded. Assigned PADI eLearning and digital material fees are excluded.
Late Cancellations / No-Shows: Cancellations within 48 hours, late arrivals that prevent participation, no-shows or voluntarily stopping the course after it has started are non-refundable.
Ocean Lovers Cancellation: If Ocean Lovers must cancel diving because of an official port closure, dangerous weather or another operational safety issue, we’ll reschedule the affected training whenever possible. If the course cannot reasonably be completed, the refundable portion will be returned; assigned PADI eLearning and digital material fees remain non-refundable.
Health & Fitness to Dive: If illness or a medical issue prevents you from diving, contact us as soon as possible. Last-minute cancellations are normally non-refundable, but whenever possible we’ll help you reschedule the remaining training during your stay.
