The PADI Rescue Diver Course is one of the most rewarding and empowering courses in scuba diving. It teaches you how to prevent, recognize, and respond to diving emergencies — in yourself, your dive buddy, or other divers.

Course Structure

Theory (E-learning)
Before getting in the water, you’ll complete an e-learning module that includes videos, reading, and short knowledge reviews. Your instructor will review the key concepts with you and guide you through, and you will pass a final multiple-choice exam.
All knowledge reviews must be completed before arrival.

Practical Training
Over 2–3 days, you’ll develop and practice essential rescue techniques in both confined and open water.

• How to spot and prevent potential problems before they happen
• Stress recognition in yourself and others
• Improving your own confidence and control underwater

Rescue Skills & Response Techniques

• How to manage tired, panicked, unresponsive, or missing divers
• Surfacing and towing unresponsive divers
• In-water rescue breathing
• Exits and emergency assistance planning

Realistic Rescue Scenarios

• Practice real-life scenarios both at the surface and underwater
• Teamwork and leadership in rescue situations
• Dealing with equipment issues and entanglement

Prerequisites:

Although not part of the Rescue course itself, an Emergency First Response (EFR) certification is a prerequisite. It covers primary (CPR) and secondary care (first aid), equipping you to act in emergencies — diving or non-diving related. Need a First Aid Certification? If you don’t have a valid Emergency First Responder (EFR) certificate, you can complete it with us in one day. (Includes theory, practice, and exam.)
