Overview

Go deeper with confidence with the PADI Deep Diver Specialty Course in Taganga, Colombia.

For many divers, some of the most exciting dive sites lie beyond the 30-meter limit of Advanced Open Water. The Deep Diver Specialty gives you the training and experience to explore deeper recreational dive sites safely and responsibly.

Through four deep training dives, you’ll learn how depth affects your body, air consumption and buoyancy, while developing better gas management, dive planning and emergency procedures.

After successful completion, qualified divers can plan recreational dives to a maximum depth of 40 meters / 130 feet.

Course Itinerary

Duration: 2 days – includes 4 deep training dives.

Before Arrival – PADI eLearning

After booking, you’ll receive your personal PADI Deep Diver eLearning. Complete the theory before arriving whenever possible so your time in Taganga can focus on diving.

Four Deep Training Dives

Over two days, you’ll progressively develop your deep-diving skills while exploring suitable sites around Taganga and Tayrona National Park.

Training includes:

Deep-dive planning and procedures
Gas management and air consumption
Buoyancy control at depth
Recognizing and managing nitrogen narcosis
Buddy awareness and communication
Depth and time monitoring
Safety stops and emergency procedures
Understanding the effects of pressure and depth

Maximum training depth is 40m / 130ft, with depth increasing progressively according to PADI standards, conditions and instructor judgment.

Requirements

PADI Adventure Diver certification or qualifying equivalent
Minimum age: 15 years
Medically fit for scuba diving
Completed required diver medical screening

Underwater Camera Rental – 65,000 COP/day: Capture your own underwater memories. All raw photo and video files are delivered directly via Google Drive after your diving day. Subject to availability.

Daily Scuba Diving Insurance – 15,000 COP/day: Most standard travel or health insurance policies exclude scuba diving accidents. If you don’t carry active specialized dive insurance, such as DAN, you can add daily scuba diving accident insurance for additional protection during your dives. Coverage is subject to the terms and conditions of the insurance policy.

15L / 100 cu ft Large Tank Upgrade – 10,000 COP/tank: Ideal for divers with higher air consumption who want additional gas capacity and potentially longer dive times. Subject to availability.

Flying & Altitude After Diving

After multiple dives, wait at least 18 hours after your final dive before flying or traveling to significant altitude.

Remember that this also applies to travel by land. Destinations such as Minca and the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta involve significant elevation gain.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Online Deposit: Reserve your course with an online deposit and pay the remaining balance at check-in.

PADI eLearning & Digital Materials: Part of your course deposit is used to register you with PADI and assign your personal digital course materials. Once your PADI eLearning has been assigned, the cost of these materials is non-refundable, as they remain registered to your personal PADI account.

Standard Cancellations: For cancellations made at least 48 hours before the scheduled course start, any refundable portion of the deposit may be refunded. Assigned PADI eLearning and digital material fees are excluded.

Late Cancellations / No-Shows: Cancellations within 48 hours, late arrivals that prevent participation, no-shows or voluntarily stopping the course after it has started are non-refundable.

Ocean Lovers Cancellation: If Ocean Lovers must cancel diving because of an official port closure, dangerous weather or another operational safety issue, we will reschedule the affected training whenever possible. If the course cannot reasonably be completed, the refundable portion will be returned; assigned PADI eLearning and digital material fees remain non-refundable.

Health & Fitness to Dive: If illness or a medical issue prevents you from diving, contact us as soon as possible. Last-minute cancellations are normally non-refundable, but whenever possible we’ll help you reschedule the remaining training during your stay.

Tayrona National Park closes to tourism during three regular conservation periods:

October 19–November 2

Diving and PADI courses continue during these dates.

During #RespiraTayrona, we use suitable dive sites around Taganga, Santa Marta and outside the official park boundaries. Your course requirements and PADI certification remain unchanged.
